  • A. The light from the sun looks white, but it is really made up of all the colours of the rainbow. Sunlight reaches Earth's atmosphere and is scattered in all directions by all the gases and particles in the air. Blue light is scattered more than the other colours because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. This is why we see a blue sky most of the time.

  • A. Put 100g plain flour, 2 large eggs, 300ml milk, 1 tbsp sunflower or vegetable oil and a pinch of salt into a bowl or large jug, then whisk to a smooth batter. Set aside for 30 mins to rest if you have time, or start cooking straight away. Set a medium frying pan or crêpe pan over a medium heat and carefully wipe it with some oiled kitchen paper. When hot, cook your pancakes for 1 min on each side until golden, keeping them warm in a low oven as you go. Serve with lemon wedges and caster sugar, or your favourite filling. Once cold, you can layer the pancakes between baking parchment, then wrap in cling film and freeze for up to 2 months.

  • A. It’s their natural reaction to anything that sneaks up on them without making any noise. Cats tend to be scared or wary of the unknown, as it could represent the danger of a predator, and in the case of a cucumber, a snake. Cats are sharp and alert animals, and as such, they always keep their guard up and have good situational awareness. So, pretty much anything that sneaks up on a cat could potentially terrify it. Trying to scare a cat like this is not just wrong, but quite cruel. That’s why, if you want your cat not to fear cucumbers, it’s best if you introduce your pet to cucumbers gradually. And yes, you should do it from a safe distance.
